| Main article: Colour and Sound Therapy page 1 By Rachael Kelly P ASIACT MIAC Nada Brahma – The world is sound. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God. And the Word was God – John 1:1 Sound and colour are the same vibration they are just operating at different frequencies. Sound and colour are different frequencies of the same vibration, we just perceive them differently (or do we?) and ultimately all vibrations have the same source. In the beginning was the word (vibration) from which everything was created and the vibration was with God (the creator) because the vibration was an extension of god (or the creator). Everything in the Universe is in a state of vibration, from the smallest molecule to the planets themselves. All vibration emits some kind of frequency. We may not always hear or see the frequency, as it may be above or below our hearing and seeing threshold. The average human ear can hear between 20 and 20,000 cycles per second (also called Hertz). Frequencies above the average hearing threshold are called UHF (Ultra High Frequencies) and sounds below our hearing threshold are called ELF (Extra Low Frequencies). We don’t perceive frequencies through just our ears, but also through our skin, bones and cellular structure, ingesting them with our whole being. As everything in the universe is vibrating then even light is vibrating and it is the different frequencies of vibration, which give us the different colour, just like different frequencies of vibration give us the different notes in an octave of sound. The five senses of the physical body; touch, smell, hearing, taste and sight are all biological sensors that for the most part, detect vibrations in different ways. While smell doesn’t directly sense a vibration, it is directly sensing physical objects in the air that have different vibrational parameters. Each sense perceives vibration within specific, limited frequency bands. For example, through the sense of hearing most people perceive vibrational frequencies between 20 to 20,000 cycles per second range, we call that sound. The eyes pick up much faster vibrations that we call light. For most people it is these five sensors, which allow us to be in touch with the world around us. In order for us to see a greater reality we have to transcend the five senses and see beyond them so we may expand our vision of sight both internally and externally to gain a greater or higher perspective. The majority of human beings on earth have got eyes to see and ears to hear, they are two of our major sense organs and they play a major part and have such an impact in our lives because they are so tangible. These two senses are fundamental to us otherwise we wouldn’t have developed these sense organs to the degree with which we have. Colour and sound work through these senses as we see colour and hear sounds, but they are also effecting us on all levels, whether that is through the music we listen to, a beautiful painting or in nature. If we asked most humans what senses they could not do without, sight and hearing would be the two senses they would agree upon above all others. Although touch, smell and taste are important it seems that sight and hearing are paramount to our very survival and if one of these senses is lost the other recompenses for that which has been lost. Therefore sound and colour, as tools of vibration are extremely important to us as human beings. Vibration, which creates us as human beings have within it the vibrations of both, sound and colour. If we take the “hue” from human we see it means the feature that enables us to observe who we are. The “being” is the aspect, which is our essential nature, the self, something that exists, the state or fact of existing. So we as hue-man beings or beings of vibration of the essential nature of self, which exist on the earth and express through vibration in the hue’s of the senses. Light is the next frequency on the scale up from sound and within the light all colours are created. If we increased a piano by 40 octaves we would play colour not sound. As we played the piano’s keys higher and higher up the scale, the pitches would get higher and higher and as the rate of vibration increased the piano would eventually start to play colour without audible sound and our sense organs would start to perceive the vibration through the sense of sight and translate the vibration so we could sense the vibration through our eyes. Our sense organs therefore translate the vibrations rate allowing us to sense it through one or more of the sense doors. Many ancient civilisations revered sound so deeply, that they believed it called the universe into existence. The “sound” or “word” of creation (GOD) it seems is purely the source of the original vibration and the source of all vibration. Ancient civilisations from Native American Shamans, Buddhist Monks, and Australian Aborigines to the ancient Atlanteans have used sound as a tool for healing the body, mind and soul. Sound has been used throughout human history in many and varied forms and our enthusiasm and excitement about sound as a healing, shamanic and sacred source is still as strong today as it was thousands of years ago. Colour has also been used throughout human history again in many and varied ways and used in ancient cultures for healing practices. Colours and sounds are all around us in each moment everything we see and hear is created from vibration. Colour and sound are interwoven into our language, we use colour and sound to describe a person’s mood “feeling blue”, “seeing red”, “green with envy”, “sounds good” or “sounds true”. We use it to describe how we feel or think about others “tickled pink”, “green fingered”, “scarlet women” or how we feel they sound. We use it in so many different contexts and we use it so often that we don’t even realise or stop to think what this might mean. We are describing the feelings of the colours and sounds or how we senses them, we are describing the meanings of colours and sounds but these meanings are not on a physical level, they come from the senses or the unseen world, things that we cannot touch or hold. Sound and colours are interwoven into our language and are mostly taken for granted and used unconsciously but they still affect us on all levels, so if we use them consciously we can then imagine what incredible effects they could create. Both colour and Sacred Sound Therapy use vibration consciously to restore the natural state of vibration with which an aspect of us naturally wants to vibrate. As each part of us is interlinked, therefore the use of sound and colour medicine works through each aspect of us and as each layer interpenetrates and therefore affects each other. Scientific research shows that sound and colour can produce changes in the autonomic, immune, and endocrine systems. Every atom, molecule, cell, gland and organ of our bodies absorbs and emits vibration at a different frequency. Our entire body, including brain waves, in a relaxed state vibrates at a fundamental frequency of about 7.8 cycles per second, which literally attunes us to the basic electromagnetic field of the Earth itself. The importance of vibration on our physical bodies in rectifying any imbalances and bringing us back to our natural state of vibration/balance is paramount. Things such as Ultra Sound, UV rays and other tools of vibration are used in allopathic medicine as well as the alternative/complementary medicine, which once again shows the importance of sound and colour or vibration in the healing process. Whales and Dolphins use vibration as a means to communicate over great distances. The vibrations of the whale’s song and the click of the dolphin travel extremely effectively in the medium of the water of the seas and oceans. Dolphins hear up to 180,000 cps, which is ten times higher than humans hear and they can also project vibration to a much greater degree than humans. The body itself is made up of more than 70% water and as vibration and or sound travel effectively in the medium of water we can see how effective sound and colour can be to the physical body. In order for something to work effectively we have to find the most effective method with which to administer the medicine and as beings made predominantly from water, we as humans are excellent conductors of sound and colour and our bodies allow these vibrations to travel effectively throughout the whole bodily structure. We can see exactly how this works within us through the experiments which have been carried out in Japan by Masaru Emoto (Messages from water volume one and two) who took frozen samples of water from various sources and used various sounds, mantras, singing and words etc and projected them into the water, he took photographs at a microscopic level of the water before and after. Remarkable changes occurred in the water after the sounds, mantras, words etc were projected into the water and the very make up of the water changed, creating numerous patterns as each different vibration was emitted. When destructive words/sounds were used, distortion in the frozen water was produced and when positive sounds or words were used, beautiful balanced geometric patterns were created and from these experiments we can see exactly how vibration affects us from the inside out. |
