| Colour Breathing disks were first conceived in 1997. Alison Bourne was working at her local hospice as the Aromatherapist. She became very aware of how each patient responded to their condition and how they coped with the stress and change in their lives as their illness progressed. A common wish of her patients was to learn how to relax themselves (or their partners) more easily. Alison was also at the same time teaching meditation techniques for a natural healing course; the “Chakras” or what are known as “ energy centres” were part of the course structure. She thought it would be a good idea to create a set of coloured disks that people could physically see and use as a tool, to help them relax themselves. Energy centres in the human body are not a new 21st century creation; they have been documented in different cultures throughout the world, for thousands of years. It is a scientific fact that everything in the universe contains energy and light. Colour is a well-known form of “energy” or what is termed “vibrational” medicine. Richard Gerber MD, US, is known as being the International expert in this field of contemporary medicine. |

The aura is an extension of our physical energy body. The word “aura” is widely used today. A familiar saying if you would be fortunate enough to meet someone as renowned as say, the late Mother Teresa of Calcutta, is that “she had an aura about her”, meaning a presence which was perceivable but not visible. A person’s aura is an extension of their energy field and Chakras. People can have a peaceful presence or they can give out a negative vibration. As humans we often use our sixth sense when we know that someone is walking behind us or if we are instantly attracted to someone.
As children, we love bright colours and are very aware of colour in our lives, but as we get older and our minds become busier, the simple appreciation of colour is easily lost.
Alison is a natural healer and is able to perceive chakras and auras; she had also taught meditation techniques to various groups for over ten years using the chakras as a focus. The first set of “chakra disks” were created in her kitchen, using seven different coloured pieces of card and drawing circles using a dinner plate as a template! The idea then developed to create seven circles of colour, which would attract the viewer in a hypnotic way, and would represent the energy centres.
Many people find it difficult to relax, let alone meditate – often if you mention the word “meditation” people who have never tried to meditate will run a mile, or say they could never do it because their minds are too busy!
When we conducted the research trials in 1999/2000, 55% of participants said they couldn’t sit at ease and feel relaxed. The whole concept of Colour Breathing is primarily designed to be simple and stress free; you don’t have to learn about the Chakras or meditation to be able to benefit Colour Breathing. All you just need is to have the book kit (and the audio CD to listen to if you wish, and a place to relax where you won’t be disturbed).
The Colour Breathing disks and concept have been granted a full UK and Australian Patents with International Patents pending and also have intellectual copyright properties.
